Blepharoplasty in Chicago ~ Eye Lid Surgery
|

1.
Will eyelid surgery change the shape of my eye?
Blepharoplasty's primary goal is to remove
extra folds of skin and pockets of fat that contribute to a
tired, sad, or angry look. The surgery creates a more youthful
and rested appearance and not a differently shaped eye. The
incisions are hidden in the natural creases of the lid, beneath
the lash line, or sometimes internally within the lid.
2. At what age should I consider surgery?
The best time for cosmetic surgery depends more on your
appearance and personal goals than your age. Extra per eyelid
skin or lower eyelid bags can begin as early as in their
twenties. For older individuals, eyelid surgery may contribute
to a subtle facial rejuvenation with wrinkle fillers or fat
transfers, or may be part of an overall facial rejuvenation when
combined with a facelift of brow lift.
3. How many days off should I take? Will it be
painful?
Most patients feel comfortable after eyelid
surgery. Most require little pain medication such as Tylenol,
or none at all. Sutures are removed in one week and most
bruising is gone by two weeks although well camouflaged after
the first week.
4. When can I wear eye make-up?
Make-up can be worn on upper eyelids, as soon as the sutures are
removed and the incisions are healed. Make-up on the lower
lids, may be applied the day after the surgery.
5. Will insurance help pay for the
surgery?
Occasionally overhanging upper lid skin can be so severe that it
obstructs vision and insurance may help cover the cost of the
surgery. An instance such as this is required to be documented
by your ophthalmologist. |
